Planting & Seed Observation

This lesson all started because one of the children found an apple seed in his lunch and wanted to plant it. We also cut up some other fruits to do a comparison. We first made the transparent windows with different kinds of seeds for observation.

The children planted the seeds in a water table filled with soil. This is one that we usually have outside.  We also made signs with popsicle sticks to label which plants would be growing. I left small spray bottles filled with water on a nearby window sill so that the children could come and water the plants themselves. Taking care of the seeds was their responsibility.
